2014-2015 Case For Support:  Facility Enhancements

To prospective students, to returning alumni, to community guests and to faculty and staff, the University setting is often representative of the overall health of the University.  The Haven is set in some of the most picturesque scenery in the world; our friends and family deserve the best facilities possible. You can help by supporting Lock Haven University facility enhancements and leave a legacy that will be remembered forever.

Upper Campus Facility Enhancements
With the recent construction of the new Science Center, Ulmer Hall no longer houses the LHU Science programs, but with a new enhancement program, it will be utilized for important classroom space and other student support services. Additionally, LHU plans on relocating the infirmary, currently located within Glennon, to within Woolridge Hall, to make it more ideally centered for students.

Campus Enhancements
The convenience of additional enhancements is very important to our students and guests. We are hoping to build pavilions (with running water and electricity) in the Russell Commons area, at athletics venues, and as part of a new nature trail that begins near McEntire Hall. Additionally, benches and picnic tables on campus provide places where students can study and alumni can meet to talk about The Haven.

2014-2015 Case For Support:  Sports Specific Enhancements

Lock Haven University athletics is always looking for opportunities to enhance the student-athlete experience, and this includes facility enhancements for many of our athletic programs.    There are a number of projects that require support in order to bring them to fruition at LHU.  In addition, there are existing naming opportunities including individual coaches’ offices for each of our varsity sports programs.

    2014-2015 Case For Support:  Rogers Gymnasium Weight Room

    The strength and conditioning weight room, located in the lower level of Rogers Gymnasium, will be the most impressive facility within the Pennsylvania State Athletics Conference (PSAC) upon completion.  It will benefit all of our athletic programs, which include:


    Baseball    Men’s Basketball    Men’s & Women’s Cross Country    Lacrosse     Football    Field Hockey    Men’s Soccer    Women’s Soccer Men’s & Women’s Track & Field    Swimming     Volleyball     Wrestling     Softball    Women’s Basketball


    The facility would include ultra-tile athletic rubber flooring throughout and platform spaces utilizing ten weight-racks sections and five stand-alone stations as shown in the illustration attached.  The LHU Bald Eagle logo would accompany all dumbbell weights and be displayed below each of the stationary floor sets.

    Funds generated through the naming opportunities below will not only benefit this project, but also scholarship support for our student-athletes.

    2014-2015 Case For Support:  Thomas Fieldhouse  -FULFILLED-

    The court located in Thomas Field House was recently renovated with a complete resurfacing.  It now proudly displays the Bald Eagle logo at center court, as shown below.  In addition, padded white chairs displaying the same logo were purchased for home events.  This area is utilized by the following programs; men’s basketball, women’s basketball, volleyball, and wrestling and with other University events. 
    This naming opportunity will provide the donor with space on the court to recognize the contribution and support to the overall project cost and Lock Haven University athletics.  This opportunity will also provide funds allocated for basketball, volleyball and/or wrestling scholarship support (designated to the program(s) of choice) or given to athletic scholarships unrestricted to benefit all of our varsity athletic programs at LHU. 
    In addition, a new wrestling mat would benefit the program and also provide a naming opportunity on the actual mat

    2014-2015 Case For Support:  Welcoming Structure

    Whether you are an incoming freshman, or an alumnus returning for a 50-year class reunion, you deserve a warm welcome back to the most beautiful campus in Pennsylvania.

    Nestled in the beautiful mountains of Central Pennsylvania, along the sprawling majesty of the West Branch of the Susquehanna River, Lock Haven University is home to over 5,000 students and countless more faculty, staff, alumni and friends. You are always welcome back to come home to “The Haven,” and nothing says this more than an “one-of-a-kind” welcoming structure located at the entrance to campus on Campus Drive.

    With large brick pillars adorned with bald eagles commemorating the history of Lock Haven University and a beautiful lattice worked metal sign stretching across the main entrance into campus, the Welcoming Structure has the opportunity to be one of the most impressive features on campus.

    Our facilities department has begun work on design of the welcoming structure, but a donor will have the opportunity to offer suggestions and determine the best way to recognize their generous support.

    Payable over five years, the work on the welcoming structure will be completed once the final pledge payment is received.
